If you notice a large about of Geese near your home, please contact Mark Breen
Here are some key points to why we need to control the Geese Population:
-
Damage to the ecosystem: A large number of geese can deplete the natural food sources in the area, disrupt the nesting habitats of other birds, and lead to excessive droppings that can pollute the water and promote harmful algal blooms.
-
Health concerns: Geese droppings can carry bacteria and parasites that can be harmful to humans, pets, and other wildlife. Additionally, the presence of large flocks of geese can increase the risk of bird-to-human disease transmission.
-
Property damage: Overpopulated geese can cause damage to gardens, lawns, and golf courses by overgrazing and leaving droppings.
-
Noise pollution: Geese can be quite noisy, especially during mating season, which can be disruptive to residents living near the lake.
-
Air safety: Large flocks of geese near airports can pose a significant risk to aircraft during takeoff and landing.
To address these issues, a management plan that includes a combination of non-lethal and humane population control methods can be considered, such as habitat modification and egg addling.
The goal is not to eliminate geese entirely but to maintain a balance between the geese population and the ecosystem while minimizing negative impacts on human activities.
